The Avatar and 3D entertainment craze certainly swept us into the world of red and blue and fuzzy lines that made images pop out from the screen.
And home film buffs can now do it to the tune of $21,000. Panasonic’s 3D camcorder is the first to combine 3D lenses into one easy to carry unit. We say wait a bit, it’ll get smaller, faster, and cheaper.
While waiting, check out the future and past of 3D with: interactive 3D holographic display that “that does away with chunky 3D glasses and refreshes images fast enough to make it interactive”. We shouldn’t forget how 3D glasses came to be. Fun fact: did you know that one of the first 3D display systems were created in the 1800s?
Personally, we think that augmented reality is the way to go in entertainment technology. This company manufactures webcam AR baseball cards to flash at your computer and play games with the person in the card as well! And LG’s flexible electronic newspaper might signal the death of good ol’ rolled up paper newspaper. Ah well, a small price to pay for news that can speak and act in your newspaper.
Finally, did you know how a telescope of 100 metres diameter fits into a 10 metre long space shuttle? Fold the instrument like a paper origami of course!
